Internationally reknowned jewellery connoisseurs Swarovski are moving in some beautiful directions. Last year they chose former Victoria’s Secret Angel and supermodel Miranda Kerr to head their new campaign as ambassador and model.

The Austrian brand has been in existence since 1895 and specialises in precision cut crystal, with a presence in more than 120 countries. Two major businesses make up the brand – one that produces and sells loose stones and elements to the industry, the other that creates design-driven finished pieces of artwork. In 1995 in Wattens, Swarovski Kristallwelten, a multi-media crystal museum was opened as a celebration of Swarovski’s space of innovation and inspiration.

Recently Swarovski revamped their international brand vision and chose Sydney as the location to reveal it, in time for Kerr’s first official Australian engagement with the brand. Their vision is simple – to promote their products as jewellery that is versatile and suitable for everyday wear.

CEO of Swarovski’s consumer goods business Robert Buchbauer boasts about the brand’s newest ambassador: “Multifaceted like the Swarovski woman, Miranda combines beauty, intelligence, and a passionate personality throughout the various facets of her life, as a mother, wife and professional. She has a confident, feminine allure and exudes warmth. Miranda and her gorgeous smile undoubtedly add sparkle to people’s eyes”. Buchbauer explains she was chosen because she personifies the contemporary spirit and sense of style that is expressed in the brand’s collections.

Patrik Hauert, Swarovski managing director consumer goods business Australia and New Zealand, said Miranda’s association with the brand has made a phenomenal impact on its performance and global standing, pronouncing that many of the pieces Miranda has worn in campaigns have now become worldwide bestsellers.
