D&G new collection Dolce&Gabbana Mosaico Collection features 5 new gold metal frames with distinctly different floral patterns intricately and meticulously hand laid in each set of frames.
Dolce and Gabbana have released a new line of their eyewear range featuring murano glass inlay details.
Their collectionDolce&Gabbana Mosaico Collection includes 5 new gold metal frames with distinctly different floral patterns intricately and meticulously hand laid in each set of frames.
The technique used is called micro mosaic or filato minute mosaic, namely due to the minutely thinner and smaller sizes of the murano glass, a big difference from the normal sized murano glass used in crafting jewellery, chandeliers and accessories.
Dolce and Gabbana’s optical glasses come with 45 murano glass tiles inlaid around each temple, whereas their limited edition full mosaic sunglasses feature a looping floral mosaic pattern of about 1000 tiles (500 on each temple).
In addition to the full mosaic, the collection features 2 types of sunglasses and 2 prescription models. Over 30 designs were considered in choosing the final 5 for the eyewear collection, and each one recreates the look and feel of the petals and leaves of the flower it represents.
Red pansies, white plumeria, pink gerberas, frangipanis and lilac forget-me-nots are all embedded in the artwork that is each pair of sunglasses, adding to the overall floral theme cherished by designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana.
